Branded a flexible identity designed to spark interest and explain the relevance of the Fauvist art movement of the early 1900’s for a younger audience.

Aimed to channel the fauve’s irreverent attitude through unexpected, intriguing, and a little bit weird solutions.

The fauves had an appreciation and understanding of beauty, and were capable of making great art in the traditional way, yet opted for irreverence of the time’s ideals and what was considered fine art by the academies.

The name Fauves was inadvertently coined by an art critic who labeled them as wild beasts.

Stylistically, they gave up accurate representation of form in favor of prioritizing color as the primary emotional stimulus. Sociologically, they helped change the we regard modern art and the world around us.

Along with the exhibit there’s a piece of narrative literature explaining the movement, and an interactive box of post cards featuring the artwork.
